OK I have removed the gif, anything else we need to do to be kosher?

I have just removed almost 100 images from the gallery for non-conformance to the rules (thats about thirty percent of the images :( )
We only have one rule that relates to the gallery : images should not have a clear.gif over them. There’s a simple reason for this – it makes them very much harder to promote outside redbubble, to the extent that the few people here who are currently actually doing and reporting promotion probably won’t promote them, and it just wastes there time searching through the gallery.
If I have to delete further images from the gallery, the artist concerned is likely to have their membership terminated without notice, especially if they are also not reporting external promotion.
You have been warned!

The clear.gif image is pasted over your image if you select the ‘Discourage people from right-clicking or saving my images by placing a transparent image over the top of them’ option in your account preferences. the amount of effort it takes for someone to circumvent this is minimal but it is difficult to usefully promote the work in such a way that this ‘protection’ is maintained.

Please remember that being part of this group means that your images shouldn’t have the clear .gif facility added. How do we promote your image if you have clear .gif applied to your image? If you prefer to keep the clear .gif, then perhaps this group isn’t for you.

One month ago we said:

Its clear that nearly everybody has either forgotten them, never read them, or simply has no intention of following them. This is not acceptable

The rules, for those of you who have forgotten them, they are here .

As no-one took any notice, we are starting to remove people from this group. If you want to remain here, post your promotion activity in the relevant forum.

If you’ve been removed, and you believe you should not have been, apply to one of the hosts for readmission – with examples of recent promotion (outside redbubble!) of other redbubble artists and we will reconsider.

We’ll shortly feature the top 10 in our gallery but can’t if your image isn’t in the group – if your image is in the top 10, and not in the group, please add your image.

Also, please remember you are here to promote (or should be!) Please promote someone from the top ten (preferably promoting outside redbubble) and report your promotion in the appropriate forum.

Half the images have a ‘clear.gif’ overlay on them, which makes promotion difficult. Such images will be removed from future challenges. See Clear.gif issues

1. regularly promote other members of the group on websites other than redbubble
2. to also promote other works not from redbubble
3. to keep other members of the group informed of your activities through the forum, by starting a new topic in the Promo Activities sub-forum

You also agreed that other members of the group could promote any of your works on redbubble on other websites.

1. If you are not prepared to promote other people’s work, you should consider whether you should remain in this group. (According to the guidelines, your membership of the group may eventually be terminated if you don’t.)
2. If you don’t provide links to where you have promoted work (in the appropriate forum section set aside for this), we may assume you aren’t doing any promotion.

We will also shortly be restarting ‘competitions’ for the members, as described in the guidelines. The top ten from these will become featured images, if they have been submitted to the group. How to Promote
There is a section in our forums where you can discuss how to promote works on a variety of websites, including blogs, bookmarking sites and social networking sites. You’ll find a lot of information in the General Discussion subforum. It would be much appreciated by the hosts if members could gather this information and restructure it into useful advice in the How to Promote subforum

Suggestions
There is also a new subforum where anyone can make suggestions and discuss changes to the group (Suggestions ). The hosts want your ideas on how to improve the group … and your help in making ideas into reality. We can’t do it all ourselves, and there are a lot more members than hosts … and the group is for the whole of us, and needs all of us to make it work.
