Before I go back to the shadows…

BIG THANK YOU to all the participation over the last couple of days… it was a very rewarding journey for me and a big learning experience… oh well, not that big, we know about the ‘darkness’ that is sent in misunderstanding, but the management aspect of the situation was really tactfully inspiring.

I have posted the ‘other’ thankyou I sent out in the forums…

I encourage everyone to cleanse any fishhooks out with making some more art specifically about this topic…

I want to throw a challenge out to the community about SPIRITUAL DISCRIMINATION IN SOCIETY… This is not restricted to faith, ethnic or geographical bearing, or politics… I would like to see the truly creative amongst us to explore this topic in context to our experiences over the past couple of days. Mainly it’s about discrimination and marginalisation due to differences in thought, conditioning and experience. Free Thinking in contrast to indocrination of Thought through institutions, nationalism and politics… What is free thinking in comparison to survival? What is free thinking in comparison to the human desire to understand origin and existence?

I am also planning on running this challenge through my social conscience group Art:Action Without Violence.

If you run a group that could conceptually be interested in running a groups collaboration about spiritual (or lack thereof) freedom of thought (or lack thereof), please feel free to pick the idea up and go with it, send me a mail if you are interested.

Visual and written works to stimulate thought and discussion about the dangers and darknesses that result from the divisions we have historically learned through WAR and REPRESSION… Scientifically, spiritually, religiously and atheistically (if that’s a word?).

I’ll also post this is all the relevant forums and in the main forums…

I hope you’ll join in making a silent and collectively LOUD personal individual statement with your ART…

I’ve got a painting that shows the timelessness of the repression of spirituality and the predominance of politics. In this piece, I have portrayed the White House. The painting is acrylics, and also has pen and ink. With ink I have transcribed a sermon onto the painting that was taught in one of my college lit courses, by Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758) from a sermon entitled “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.” This text, this sermon, contains frightening imagery of a ruthless God who has the power to hold people over the pits of hell, to cast them down if they don’t believe and adhere. The fear tactic in this sermon is amazing, and likely still practiced in some less tolerant religions today to some extent (although I would hope not). The state of fear that people live in at times, within their faith, amazes me. This painting is my expression of the timelessness of fear that people have of their government, of their God(s), and of their country. Here is a link. Maybe it fits within the scope you’re looking for. I certainly had in mind the things you’re talking about when I worked on it. Thanks for viewing.
