blending two pics in one document?

i don’t know how to import two pictures in one single document…i’d like to add layers and textures to my works and can’t work it out… once i’ve open the document i want to work on, all i can do is alter colours, add colours etc, but I don’t know how to import textures or other pics from my own library. can somebody help? thanks |

I am assuming that you are using photoshop? One way is to open the images you want then click/drag one image over another. This will create another layer on top of your initial image layer and you can go from there. Holding the shift key down as you drag and release will load the additional image to the center of the main image. Good luck! |

i use a program called gimp.. it’s free to download. open one image then open another by adding layer..check out the help section. it’s easier than photoshop. hope this helps os |

oh my god, too cool Jason, you meant drag the second picture within the “layer” palette. I just merged two pictures by choosing “overlay” (totally by chance) and I looooooooove it. You made my day! thank you thank you ! |

In Photoshop – You can also select all of the image you wish to transfer and then command c, or copy, then command v, or paste, the image into a second image. Then in layers you can adjust the layer mode (normal, lighten, darken, overlay etc) to suit your intended result. |

The layers palette is your friend. Also if you develop skill with the pen tool. then you can create crisp cut outs. |
