Group Rules:

Please read the following group guidelines:

Artwork should contain a description (which ties in with the physics and emotion behind taking pictures mentioned above). At the absolute minimum, EXIF data showing the camera settings should be included, but more of a description as to how the shot came about would be very useful too.

Journal entries should contain tips, tricks (from using the camera, through to how to tips on the Red Bubble site).

There are no limits to artwork or journals posted as long as they follow the guidelines above.

Thanks

Craig, Stuart, and Lys

The following b_mail was posted to set out what images will be accepted / rejected:

There has been some confusion over what would be accepted / rejected to the group (not helped by a slight bug that was giving a rejcted message when work was accepted – For this reason work will be either be accepted or rejected (no reason attached).

It is very hard to “set in stone” an exact guideline. But if you almost see it as a show and tell group, I think that will help a lot. We would all seem to have a common interest in photography, and people usually enjoy talking about their interests. Some people use point and shoot cameras and the shutter speeds etc are not as important to them.

If I explain what I look for when approving / rejecting the following may help.

I look to see if there are any technical aspects that were considered, i.e. I chose this location becuase I knew the light would show here.
If work was then done post processing, I would like to learn how it was done. I wouldn’t look for a full description, but something more than “edited in photoshop”. I would want to learn something if I didn’t know already.
Has someone explained what made them take the shot. A description of what the subject is would not explain that to me, but a description of what you were thinking of the time would be great.
In summary – This group is for everyone, but with an emphasis on learning. If someone liked your photo and wanted to learn more about it then they could do so just by looking – That’s the basic general idea.

Any work rejected will be because of this only. There is no screening process on the image itself, only the narrative that accompanies it, so if it is rejected, it is because the leaders feel that it doesn’t meet the guidelines.
