Good morning (well it is both here anyway) to 101’ers.
Thanks very much for your welcome and thanks to Taylor for providing me with an opportunity to be more active within this on-line community.
A quick snapshot of Jim Filmer.
I have always had a technical and mathematical type of background however I find that photography is a geat junction of where art and engineering can meet and complement each other.
I studied photography at high school and then let the passion lapse for many a year, until only a couple of years ago. Currently I shoot with a Canon 300D (I think its a Rebel in the USA) recently complemented with a Sigma 10-200mm OS lens. I also have tucked away in my camera bag a not so small 120 Widelux panoramic camera. Such a contrast to the Canon DSLR, the WIdelux is totally mechanical (no electronics at all), it has a rotating lens assembly which “scans” across two standard frames of 120 film. I am currently looking for a new film scanner for medium format film so I can begin working with photoshop on my existing images.
I live on a 180 acre farm on the outskirts of Mt Barker, South Australia – about a 40 minute drive from the city of Adelaide and I do get to travel fairly extensively with work – hence you will se a wide range of subjects in my work. You may also notice at times a wide range of spelling mistakes as my brain is working a step or 5 ahead of my 2 finger typing.
Ok… enough about me … hopefully you are all here, as I am, to enjoy our photography and to learn more about techniques, how to improve our shots and to enjoy ourselves and our time with a camera and on-line.

Regards,

Jim

Howdy,

Good to see I’m not the only one that still shoots film.

I envy you your ranch. We need to get our financial house in order and then we’re planning on buying something a bit smaller than yours – maybe 10 acres. Enough to not have neighbors within view.

Happy critiquing :-)

- Doug.

Hi Jim Redbubble is a ‘lovely’ place to build a community and showcase work – but what i really want is to improve my photography and so i need good constructive comment – not just nice affirmations – mind you i gratefully accept those too – so it is wonderful to have groups such as this here. By the way i am an Adelaide girl – so know your part of the world. – cheers rochelle
