Topic: How am I doing? / Critique please Hi Andrea – I liked the first version, I loved the blues :-), but the amended version is fantastic – I think Jim was right on the rule of thirds with this one. Great job Cheers Ceri xx |

Topic: How am I doing? / Critique please I made a few changes, if you don’t mind, please take another peek at it. The whole pic might just be doomed, but oh well. Thanks for your input Andrea http://www.redbubble.com/people/ammac78/art/4833718-1-wind-farm-central-montana |

Topic: How am I doing? / Critique please Perhaps the colours are over saturated, however I would be looking to either reframe a new shot, or crop this image to push the wind generator over to the left of screen to get it on a line of thirds. The reason to the left is that it is pointing generally to the right, hence you should leave more space there for the viewers eyes to wander off into the distant plains. |

Topic: How am I doing? / Critique please I think it’s a great shot – the sky is a tad bit too blue, but I have to say I’ve been guilty of that myself as have many artists on Redbubble. It’s really all about your interpretation and what YOU find appealing. If YOU like it, go with it. |

Topic: How am I doing? / Critique please I can understand the overprocessing comment. I wasn’t sure how the dramatic colors would be accepted. The original is too light. I will try messing with it again. Thanks for the input. Andrea |

Topic: How am I doing? / Critique please I’m not really that new to photography, but I’m new to SLR photography…..so yea I guess I’m a newbie. I had to depend on my point and shoot for a long time, but I was able to buy my first DSLR recently. I’m working with the stock lens that was with it (18-55mm) until I can afford larger lens. Anyway enough blabbing, please give me your honest opinions of my picture. I eager to learn! Thanks This was taken with a Cannon EOS Digital Rebel XS with the 18-55 mm stock lens. http://www.redbubble.com/people/ammac78/art/4833718-1-wind-farm-central-montana |

Topic: How am I doing? / Critique requested using masks in Photoshop and then adjustong levels of the area that you want lightened – however I am with Lois on this one – I don’t think it would add to the image and could well detract. I like the colourful lights against the silhouette background of the mountains and the further variation that the sky and clouds provide. |

Topic: How am I doing? / Critique requested I use a add on to lightroom called Viveza 2 that enables you to pick and choose the areas you want to bring out, without changing the other areas. |

Topic: How am I doing? / Critique requested Thank you all for the advice and comments. This shot just got featured, which I was not expecting, so I must just leave it as it is.. |

Topic: How am I doing? / Critique requested There’s a program called Lightroom. It should be able to help – there’s a ‘fill light’ function which should be able to help you recover some detail, and you won’t lose the ‘pop’ from the lights. Great shot by the way, I really love the composition. |

Topic: How am I doing? / Critique requested Hi Craig … not that I know anything .. and I truly don’t … but I’d leave it as it is .. I think it’s very unusual .. the lights at the carnival really POP … and following rule of thirds, the carnival lights themselves are in the perfect spot!!! I like it a lot!!! |

Topic: How am I doing? / Critique requested I took this and got the blur on the lights at the show as I wanted, but I think the rest is a bit dark. |

Topic: How am I doing? / Challenge Winner Critique - 5 O'Clock Shadow I think it’s busy as well, but the sepia saves it from being even busier, while allowing the ‘busy’ to give an atmosphere to the scene (kind of tropical type, relaxed and informal, in keeping with the furniture style, as opposed to the minimalistic and clean lines of modern, ‘western/Scandinavian’ type) |

Topic: How am I doing? / Challenge Winner Critique - 5 O'Clock Shadow A very busy image. The lens baby is an interesting lens which adds such a different view and starts to complicate the image in itself. The variation in shadow to light and the verticals versus the diagonals all add further complication to the image – so a first view to me finds this image very crowded and over complicated. As with Linda, above, once sitting here and looking the image develops an appeal. |
