Before we go any further, it must be said that having a good understanding of daylight, or natural light, is a solid basis for learning to artificially light your pictures. Whether we’re talking flashguns, studio flash, or tungsten light, it makes sense to try to reproduce your favorite daylight effects.
Most often, photographers use flash systems to reprodice daylight effects, and usually the flash is diffused in some way, maybe by being bounced out of a white (or gold or sliver) umbrella or the another wall, or by firing it from behind a translucent plastic sheet or tissue paper.
In this challenge, all submissions should have some form of artificial light used (such as a flash, tungsten lighting, etc) that is bounced or diffused to make it look like natural lighting. To make it fair, no outdoor shots should be submitted to this challenge. Please submit photos that use artificial lighting inside to make it look like window lighting.
Vote for images that best display the use of artificial lighting to reproduce natural light. Subjects should not be washed out (too bright) or too shadowed (too dark). It should look like you used lighting from a window, but its really your flash.
Top Ten and two honorable mentions by your host will be featured on the front page.
This is the first of a couple artificial lighting challenges we will have. My next one will be using a studio, so try not to use studio photos here.
AS ALWAYS:
Enter only photos with little or no post processing. No cards, no clothing designs, no words on photos, no collaging, no excessively post processed images please. If any of these are entered it is the hosts choice remove them without notice.
IMPORTANT: You DO NOT need to submit your photo to the group to enter the challenge. After the challenge has finished, the top ten and two honorable mentions will be asked to submit their work to the group then for featuring!
