The Golden Triangle Rule (Portraiture ONLY)

This challenge closed 5 months ago.

The Challenge

The rule of the golden triangle is based on the equilateral triangle, and it’s mostly used in the composition of portraits. The triangle is a powerful form and can be blaced anywhere in the frame. The triangle will form the positive shape (the main features, or the subject matter) and the background and/or foreground will by the negative shape (the spaces between and around the main features) around the triangle. The geometric strength of the triangle provides the subject of the portrait with its strength, and it’s dynamic starting point when learning to compose portraits.

Judging / Voting Criteria

Vote for images that best display the use of The Golden Triangle.

In using the triangle in portraiture, the top center of the head and the shoulders can make the triangle, or the nose and the lines of the arms to the elbows, or if their are multiple people, the center of each of their faces.

Try different ways to utilize this “rule”.

Rewards & Prizes

Top Ten will be featured on the front page. Two non-placers will be chosen by moderator to also be featured!

Additional Information

Remember: Rules are made to be broken! So these rules that I am giving you in the challenges are just guidelines of tried and true methods of artworks. All portraits do not have to have the Golden Triangle to work, but for this challenge, try it out!

AS ALWAYS:
Enter only photos with little or no post processing. No cards, no clothing designs, no words on photos, no collaging, no excessively post processed images please. If any of these are entered it is the hosts choice remove them without notice.

IMPORTANT: You DO NOT need to submit your photo to the group to enter the challenge. After the challenge has finished, the top ten and two honorable mentions will be asked to submit their work to the group then for featuring!
