Inside and outside the walls of the church are painted white. The decoration is simple, but interesting and unusual. However, under that white coating there are beautiful paintings from the time when the church belonged to catholics. They are being uncovered and restored. The pillars support the ceiling via extended arcs.
A short history.
The oldest church of my little hungarian town in southern Slovakia. Samorin/Somorja might be small, but its history is long starting around 1238 as a settlement called ecclesia Sancte Mariae. This church dates back to mid 13th century and many of its original features survived till now. Each century brought new features and new additions. Now it’s the church of christian reformed faith and centre of various cultural events. Location: Samorin/Somorja in southern Slovakia.
