Wordstock 2009
I just worked at a booth this morning for p:ear at Portland’s Wordstock. P:ear is an organization I am working with that provides positive interactions for homeless youth ages 15-24. It stands for project: education, art, recreation.
Woodstock was a good opportunity to meet with local authors and publishers. There were some well known authors giving readings and advice. One author said she is a best seller and continues to go to workshops and critiques with other authors. She wants feedback to improve.
It gave me some ideas for my own niche. I was speaking to another volunteer who is a published poet and author. His recommendation…. “Keep at it. I went to 10 different publishers before someone published me.” He’s working on a book at the moment.
Soooo…. just wanted to share. Keep writing, keep swinging the bat, don’t give up!!!
