Worst Art Revisited

I have pulled my journal that I wrote last night, not because I disagree with my observation, but because I realized something. It was just my opinion which was based on my own life experiences. The topic of the art was one that I am familiar with.

I think art is very hard to judge. The artist should be allowed to speak for herself. I guess I wouldn’t even be writing this, but I had noticed quite a lot of people had read it.

Sorry if you don’t know what the heck I am talking about, but I felt it was better to not toss my opinion around even if it was not meant to be critical of an entire genre of art. All forms of art are important to the person who made it and that was not my intention.

Zolton, I actually have no idea what you are talking about…. LOL! But, anybody who tells you they don’t have an “opinion” on art, music, photography, poetry… etc… is lying. People don’t like others to share their opinions… rocks the boat. ;o) I have no care for what others believe… so, I’m sure whatever you wrote couldn’t have been that bad, no matter, how ill-received.

It wasn’t really ill received, I just felt that it was not well spoken and I wasn’t actually able to present an example. I always worry about being misinterpreted I guess. : )

it’s fine to have an opinion…just depends how you express it. and I think you can express an opinion without knocking what other people do….yes it is a fine balance and I too prefer to tread carefully, nothing wrong with that!

Thanks, Miss Fasslebinder. I agree. I generally do express my opinion quite well!

Just have to reference Siskel and Ebert , There will always be two sides to the coin. Say what you want and be honest and tactful ….;)

Your opinion is just as valid as anyones!
But if you feel you have wrongly belittled someone trying to make a generalized comment remember next time to proof read before you post.
We all make doozie faux pars [wish I could spell!] and your apology should suffice for one bad woopsie.
Perhaps too we should be more honest about the art that is in here – there are some artists who really should be accountants! In the real world all art is up for painful critique and ridicule! if it weren’t there would be no Good, Best, Genius etc it would all just be art! That kind of general acceptance should end in middle school! [about 15yo] and harsh reality begun to set in – “stick finger drawing is not a classic portrait – and no the middle finger pointing up does not help it !!” & for writers too – “just because poo rhymes with too it doesn’t really need to be used just so the line rhymes!”

Anyway the artists whoever she is should be grateful you are such a nice person!
I or the next viewer may not be so nice! :O)

    I obviously missed a pisces moment…shucks…
I will say Art is always in the eye of the beholder. Artists are the harshest of critics, but does an artist make art for other artists? Not usually…I don’t give a flip who likes my work and who doesn’t, but I respect their views.
There are 5 billion people in this world and I would guess one might even like a too and poo poem….lol.
    Opinions are an important part of the life…that said if you don’t agree just delete this comment… : { )}

Exactly… I keep picturing you starring in The Wizard of Oz. Put ‘em up, put ‘em up! Which one of you first? I can fight you both together if you want. I can fight you with one paw tied behind my back. : )

Thank you. I didn’t pick on anyone here or mention anyone really… just, as you said, a statement about one thing can be interpreted as a general statement about so many other things.

Yes, I should have the keyboard taken away after 2am. Ha ha. You didn’t really miss much. I don’t really care if someone doesn’t like my work either. Just didn’t want my silly comment on one thing to be taken on a broader scale. I’m sure I’m the only one who really cares!

    As a matter of fact… just today…

    My friend Libby
    looked in her shoe.
    Wha’d she find?
    It was dog poo.
    Libby was shocked
    and cried out, “Ew”.
    Gucci the Chihuahua
    said, “It’s my shoe, too.”

Bad poetry… true story. Well not the part when Gucci spoke.
