Title The Undrying Painting
Everyone! I guess it’s finally time to share to the world and my Google+ buddies buddies; a painting I made that is currently in a tragic state Yes, a tragic state
Why? Because it is not drying at all! and It has almost been a week since I made this!
Almost a week ago, I wanted to make another knife painting; but was without much influence, so I made an attempt to paint something but failed. So, I waited a day (to gather influence/inspiration) and during the late hours of night, made this. Hmm, the thing is, that as always; I wanted to experiment with oils and methods of painting. My use of knife proved to give a nice effect of rain, but the oil I use (Kerosene) is abit too thin. so, if i used that, I had to use layers to have this effect. But, then I had an idea. “Hey, why not use Cooking Oil , It’s thick and easily available.” And using cooking oil really gives a wonderful shine to the painting! But, after searching the internet, as to why don’t artsts generally use cooking oil. I found out, that some have experimented with it, but mostly cooking oils do not oxidize when in contact with air.
So yeah, the white parts of this painting are still wet as a freshly made painting, and the dark parts have drying a bit though. I hope it finally dries (if I have to wait a month or so for it)
Umm yeah, There is a chance that it may never dry , so in that case, I’m thinking of just encasing it in glass or something to protect it.. Otherwise, there’s always a chance of it ending in disaster.
