Jokulsarlon Morning Rainbow - Iceland
Jokulsarlon is a glacial lake that meets the sea in Iceland. One of the most beautiful places i have been on our little planet Earth. The tragedy is that this beautiful photo would not be possible without global warming. When in a cafe at a petrol station i saw a postcard of Jokulsarlon. One single large iceberg floating in the centre. As you can see now the lake is full.
Note: The size if this work was increased using Photoshop CS2.
Best size being around the 50cm wide.
Jokulsarlon Morning Rainbow - Iceland belongs to the following groups:
Dawn and Dusk Light, Icy Cold, In the Moment, Landscape Photography and Masterpiece: PhotographyAvailable for sale as Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

Wonderful photo! I was fortunate enough to see a glacier on the equator (Mt Kenya) – something my children will never see.

the captured rainbow frames the image – elevates it above and beyond. We really need to get the enlarge thing happening so we can see these images in widescreen.

Such a striking landscape and the rainbow tops off proceedings very well. A brilliantly composed image.

Don’t know how I missed this one Adrian. A very beautiful mix of subtle hues and the contrast of the rainbow. Love the wide format – really suits this well. Shame it’s so bitter-sweet as per your description.

Just a beautiful picture! Nice description to go with it as well, I sure hope there will be a time when there is once again a single iceberg there

I’ve glanced at the thumb-view a few times … now I have opened it, I’ve finally noticed the rainbow!
That must have been a lot of fun to capture. I bet you took a LOT of photographs on that assignment!

Iceland was the first country visited with the new digital camera in hand. 500+ shots taken. These days were moving into the 1000+ region.
Really want to go back to Iceland and will one day. Looking forward to it.

I lived in Canada’s great north, and I can fell the climate in your picture. I can see it in the ice melt. It is indeed a sad situation, yet a very beautiful picture in all it’s sad beauty. Perhaps the rainbow will heal the whole.
Great picture, sad reality.

Fantastic shot. It’s so difficult to get good light in Iceland which makes me appreciate it even more.

Nice capture Adrian. It is so true, which Kasia said, that it’s difficult to get good light here in Iceland specially when you don’t live here. ;) Either you get too little or too harsh light, but when you get a great light then my country is the most beautiful in the world. :)
