Artist's Description

My vector drawing of the Blackburn Monoplane type D 1912 in the skies above Barda in Romania.
Robert Blackburn was one of the British pioneers designing and building airplanes. His first machine to fly successfully from the sands in Filey was in 1910. Several developments followed in the next years and the designs were aerodynamically cleaned up. In February 1913 he built one aeroplane for Cyril Foggin.
The Type D, a wooden, fabric-covered single-seat monoplane powered by a 50 hp (40 kW) Gnome rotary engine, was built for Cyril Foggin in 1912.
