My digital painting, using landscape2 in DAP, of Hereford Cathedral.
Information is derived from wikipedia and the original photograph used courtesy of RoganJosh at Morgue file.
The current Hereford Cathedral, located at Hereford in England, dates from 1079.
The first cathedral in stone was built by Milfrid in the 7th century but this was plundered and burned in 1056 by a combined force of Welsh and Irish.
The Cathedral remained in a state of ruin until Robert of Lorraine was made Bishop in 1079 and undertook its reconstruction. His work was carried on, by succeeding bishops but was not completed until 1148.
Since then the cathedral has seen many alterations, because of repair or whim, to arrive at the wonderful building that we see today.
