This is a digital painting of Harlech Castle in Wales, using a combination of landscape2 and Andy’s brushes AOP in DAP.
The original photograph is used with the kind permission of the photographer Steven Halford.
The English monarch Edward I built Harlech in the late 13th century. It was one of the most formidable of his fortresses, designed to contain the Welsh in their homeland.
Somewhat rare in an English Edwardian castle the magnificent medieval architecture of Harlech seems to grow from it’s stunning surroundings.
Construction was superinteded by a military architect of genius, Master James of St. George who was to become the resident governor between 1290-93.
