In the year 2000, I was crossing the Bay of Biscay alone, when I was hit by a violent storm. Over a period of 21 hours I averaged a speed of 6.5kts, when the maximum speed for the boat is less than 6kts.
Needless to say I had an exhausting struggle, especially when my main halyard became jammed and I was unable to lower my main sail.
After I ended my cruise from the UK, in Gibraltar, I painted my feelings whilst caught in the storm.
I have exchanged my 8m (SCOD) yacht for one of the old clipper ships to give my thoughts that extra scale.
