An Acrylic painting of a Clipper Ship Wearing Red Sails by

My painting in acrylic, on a wooden door salvaged from the restoration of an old wooden catamaran.

The boom years of the Clipper Ship Era began in 1843 as a result of the growing demand for a more rapid delivery of tea from China. It continued under the stimulating influence of the discovery of gold in California and Australia in 1848 and 1851, and ended with the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869

I lived on my own yacht until 2008. Not as big as this one but it certainly gave me the inspiration to paint, draw and photograph sailing ships :)

Oh, Dennis. I am glad you told me about this. It’s out of this world beautiful……and on a door from a catamarand. Fantastic. This is so, so unique. I need to get back to your gallery. I wish I had time to just look at RB work all day. It’s so inspiring.

  • Many thanks Kate :)
