My grandfather Benjamin Thomas Melling, whilst serving in the Royal Light Artillery, was killed by a gas attack in this year, in this town!

I have opened a shop with CafePress to sell some of my designs on clothing, iPhone & laptop cases, jewellery and lots more:

Beautifully rendered Dennis. Sorry there is family sorrow attached but I am sure there is pride also.

  • Thank you Judith :)
I found the original old photograph and lots of other details when I was researching my family history. Benjamin was my father’s father.

this is a wonderful picture Dennis and reminds us of a time, not to be repeated, hopefully

  • It certainly was a disgusting war and opened the world’s eyes to the evil of war but, unfortunately, war seems to be inherent in man and didn’t make the slightest bit of difference to the behaviour of mankind :(
