these are all getting demolished very soon, good ridance!
have you taken this from the highrise flays just there?
Glen Allen replied
I took these back in 2006 before I started working for the Local Authority myself. I was on the roof of a nearby block which I understand might not be demolished. I think notwithstanding the failings of this type of accomodation and the ideals of oour forebearers, they are part of out culture and so I am glad I now have a record of them for properity.
Whilst I accept this is not “art” perhaps records like this will remid us who are involved in the planning of our towns and Cities that we should learn from the mistakes of the past, be they enviromental or social.
Thanks for commenting Richie.

im a big fan of leeds’ history and am always looking into ‘how it used to look’
and i agree, the photographs are worth taking and used for reference in maybe just a couple of years time, rather than 20 years time

What strikes me aboput this type of development and i am well used to it comming originally from deepest darkest west midlands is how the management probably had as much to do with the demise of them socially as much as the architecture did.
I amazes me that I still deal with idealistic designers that have no concept of the social implications of their designs. Do we never learn from the mistakes of the past? I sometime dispair!
And as you agree, these records are important, after all, if they gho what reference would our children have? I pray they are wiser than we have been.
