Ah Yorkshire, it promises you sunshine and then delivers you rain! But still, is in my opinion one of the most beautiful areas of the UK!

Yup your right, and been an honoury Yorkshireman, (transplanted from the midlands 5 years ago) I would say in all its variety the most beautiful area of the UK.

Castle Hill, I know it well. A couple of years back, the Council made a cock-up, forgot to list the pub that was up there (dating from 1810), next to the tower, and gave someone permission to alter it into a posh new hotel. Instead they demolished it. So now no pub. Beautiful shot.
Glen Allen replied
I thought it was a bit more complex than that, English Heritage do the listing and I heard there was enforcement action against the works that were been carried out without planning permission, but hey the result is still the same, no pub LOL!
Artway

Very dramatic againts the dark sky. I know the area but don’t remember this castle…I’ll have to revisit Huddersfield.
Glen Allen replied
Thanks, It is actually a Victorian Folly built for one of Victoria’s anniversaries, Her Diamond one I think (60)? Not sure about that bit. The hill it is built on is Castle Hill and marks the original pre-historic settlement that was later to become Huddersfield. It gives fantastic views of the town.
