Amsterdam Canal - Oil Painting Effect

Thanks, me and my partner were in Amsterdam earlier this year and were really inspired by the Van Gogh museum. In fact his early work is often overlooked and my tribute is in boots. I appreciate yor comments and thanks for taking time to look at my work.

Thank you, it is a special place for me too, I proposed to my girlfriend there earlier this year and she said yes. It is a place we will come back to again and again. We visited the Van Gogh museum whilst we were there and his work is astounding, hence this piece and my image Boots which reflects his earlier period.

Thanks Deon, I tried many different plug-ins etc, finally found the method I am most comfortable with but it still takes time and paitence to get the conversion just so ;o) Its a very theraputic process though.

Thank you. I am no painter but I find doing this effect on my images is very theraputic and I love the end result. This in my opinion in this case is much better than the original photogrpah from which it was taken.

Not sure about Gouda where is that? This visit we stayed in the city centre all the time, there was/is just so much to see. But when I was there 20 years ago I travelled all over so may have been there.

I had the pleasure of visitng the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam last March (08) and it was amazing! Suchan inspiration. My first one was Boots that I did this effect on simply becasue his early work is brill and not as popular as his later more colourful work.
