Roses for my love

Peter Zentjens

Beringen, Belgium

Artist's Description

I did something rather experimental today. Using an old still life, I tried to simulate the lensbaby effect digitally. Just out of curiosity what I could achieve, as I’m considering buying a lensbaby for real. Of course, this way I have much more control over the area in focus then with the real deal, keeping it on 2 central roses. I was rather pleased with the outcome so I decided to try something else for a first time. Although I personally find that we are seeing just a bit to much of textured images these days here on RB, I couldn’t resist giving it a try myself. :^) Actually, I did this before, a long time ago, in dark room days, but this is my first time digital. So, I slapped on a beautiful hand dyed texture by lostandtaken.com and loved what I saw. So much, that I decided to even publish it here.
The original still life, which was never intended for publication, was shot with my Lumix-LX3 set on 1:1 aspect ratio and using only natural window light (so no painting with light this time!) Originally meant only as a souvenir of a bouquet of roses I bought for my love, my wife…
