It’s a pity that that Wallaby that we saw here that morning, our very first ever in the wild, isn’t sitting in the bottom right corner of this shot. But hey, you can’t have it all. I must say the sky and sun were most cooperative on there part!

What you see are the first rays of sun in a dispiriting dark and grey sky, the first messengers of the bright blue sky we would have for the better part of this day, making us very happy indeed.

The fact that we had this magnificent road just about completely to ourselves at this time of day also helped. Not to mention the deserted 12 Apostles and Loch Ard.

We enjoyed the Port Campbell region of the Great Ocean Road so much, that in fact, we saw only half the Great Ocean Road! So, as with so many things we have seen in Oz, I’ll have to do my best Arnold Schwarzenegger impression: “I’ll be back!”

Shot with my Lumix LX3 set to natural film mode.

Ah yes my old ‘haunting’ grounds, back in the days when I lived in Geelong and going to art school! Loved the sense of freedom riding/cruising along that great ocean road highway!
Glad to know the skies cleared for you and you had an enjoyable visit Peter.

  • Thanks ever so much Kerryn

Oh, Peter this is precious! I took a similar shot in the Karoo! It really is a small world we live in…! Great shot!

  • For sure it is!
    Thanks for the comment Taschja.

Super shot, but I think you need to bulk up for that Arnold impression ;)

  • Thank you Jan! For the comment on my work, not that on my bodily build. :)

Well done Peter, you virtually drove right past my door to get this shot. Very much my neck of the woods. So how’s that! Small World. Let me know next time “you’ll be back” and we’ll meet up for a coffee!

  • Hey Janet, pity we didn’t meet up. I put my plans up here long before we came but unfortunately you didn’t spot it. So keep an eye on my journal for the next trip. ;)
Actually we came very close in Ozzy terms, because we drove from Ballarat down to Port Campbell via Camperdown.

Yes, so close Peter. Bummer that I missed your journal. So much to keep up with here on RB ;)

  • I know! But then again, we’ll be back, so better luck next time.

Gorgeous, moody photo Peter. You can almost smell that cool morning air with just a hint of sea salt.

  • Cheers Richard
