The Balance by Peter Zentjens

This actually is a shot of the balance of my very old drawing board. You know, the type of board architects and the like would use before computers and CAD came along. But although the subject really is a balance, the concept and the title are about something totally different as I’m sure you can see…

This work was heavily inspired by the Victorian / steampunk fairy world created by Tad Williams in his fabulous book “The War of the Flowers” that was recommended to me by MagpieMagic for which I’m very grateful. Even though I’m not even halfway in the book it has already inspired me to be creative…

On a more technical note, this still life was shot with my Pentax K10D using an ancient SMC Pentax-M 1:3.5 28mm lens. As usual, I used my Painted with light technique. Thanks, by the way, to all of you 81 people who have favoured this tutorial.

I love your lighting technique for this and processing. Lovely and pleasing image

  • Thanks! Well I guess I could say that my lightning technique and my post processing are inseparably connected with each other. In fact, the only post processing is a layering of differently lit shots.
