Due to some personal troubles I’m a little down at the moment, so zapped from all inspiration I cancelled the shooting of a new still life I had planned and dived into my old slides instead.
“The attic”, the series of which this shot was a part, was originally shot on slide for a multi-projector slide-show based on and accompanied by the sound track of “Wild at Heart”, song nr 9. Smoke Rings. In fact, I guess this series and that song are the seeds from which my passion for nostalgic still life photography was born.
On the subject, the Piccolo magazines were the Playboys of it’s time. Scandalous practically nude photos of women in bathing suits ( covering them mostly from ankle to neck) were shown every so often. A nude ankle, can you imagine! Outrageous. :)
On the technique, I used a powerful 500w lamp with some aluminium foil wrapped around it. In the foil was a small whole which created a beam like effect. The mood I was looking for was an attic with a sole ray of light through a small window.
