This work is an involuntary corroboration between me and my sister. Let me explain the involuntary bit. A while ago my wife turned 40 (don’t tell her I told you!). As a present, my sister made this beautiful “flower cake”. However, as flowers do, the cake started to wane and I started to get an idea.

So I let the flowers wane and dry out. I put the cake in the attic to let it get dusty and I waited… until today.

Another crossover between my nostalgia and surreal series, shot as usual with my own painted with light technique ( tutorial ) and me old and trusty Pentax K10D and Pentax-A 1:1.7 50mm objective combo.

Thank you sis…

40 is a time of release and joy. For whomever this cake is for I hope it comes alive and fills with color and life. Wonderful compelling shot.

  • It was for my wife (but I didn’t tell you that!) :)
    Thanks for the compliment Thomas.
