Espresso Bagagli

sold as a mounted print to a mystery buyer

This is my second instalment in the “nostalgia” series, the one I’ve been
withholding from you. Because of it’s very special mood I consider this to be my masterpiece in this series and in general, to date that is.

Same general concept and techniques as in the other images from this series with the most important being the painted with light technique

Espresso Bagagli by Peter Zentjens
  • Peter Hill

    Peter Hill

A very evocative and well crafted image, Peter. I love the tones, the mystery, the suggestiveness. This is a rich palette and soaking in your theme.

  • Peter Zentjens replied

Wow, thanks for this feedback Peter. I really is soaking in my theme isn’t it? It’s, like I said, the mood that makes it stand out of the crowd (well, 4 images is hardly a crowd!) ;)
Not that the others lack the nostalgic mood, it’s just stronger here somehow. It’s hard to put into words with my limited English.

  • awoni

    awoni

this is quite a special work, I really like it. I have to agree with Peter Hill on the tones, they all match really well, but also give a mysterious contrast.

  • Peter Zentjens replied

    Thank you awoni.
I was wondering. Do the rest of you see the had in the background? Or did I make it so dark, it’s only barely visible on my screen, that it’s not showing on most monitors? As non are calibrated equally of course.

  • awoni

    awoni

    You’re welcome!
I do see it, but quite vaguely. I do like that, makes it a bit more mysterious!

  • Peter Zentjens replied

Alright! That was the effect I was after, but I was afraid it wouldn’t show at all.

  • majo

    majo

I must say this one has a bra in it as well so it may be favourited alot to :-)
Serious now I love your painting with light technic
Still not sure but sure one day I’ll pick one favourite

  • Peter Zentjens replied

Nah, I think a lot of people are more interested in the normal contents of a bra, which isn’t in the picture, then in the bra itself. ;)
Thanks for the compliment majo! Cheers.

  • berndt2

    berndt2

Very cool shot – and an excellent series. Love the colours and textures of the leather, which is what really brings home the ‘old times’ nature of the piece.

  • Peter Zentjens replied

Yes, I know what you mean. It was such a lovely piece of antique that I had a hard time parting from it again. I borrowed it for this shoot. But just looking at it you could imagine stories about long travels on ocean liners, trains across Europe, people wearing high hats. That old leather case really sparks my imagination.
    Thanks for your feedback Berndt2
