Morning In The Okanagan Valley

Memories of hazy early mornings
Feeling wet grass under my feet
Cold air hides the heat of the rising sun
Who is himself, just starting to wake up

I move along the pathway
That leads away from my front door
Step onto the street
I know where I want to go

Down a little hill
Followed by a big hill
Funny as I notice
That the little hill was the easiest

Onto the sandy bank
I can see the sun rising
Pockets of light creep up towards me
Until eventually I am warm again

The water is so tranquil
I sit on a rock and stare
So quiet is the morning
Cleanses the soul

Maybe this what heaven looks like
Or maybe this is heaven itself
This is truly God’s country
His blessings are everywhere

Eventually I leave
But I know I will return
I will be there tomorrow
And forever more

I dont need to think of heaven
I have seen it already
Cold mornings with a waking sun
In a world alive with wonder.
