Artist's Description

The Titanic, easily the most famous, well known ship ever to have existed. 46,328 tons, she sped through the ocean at 21 knots and carried 2,453 souls onboard. At the time she was the worlds largest ship, surpassed all safety laws and was deemed unsinkable.

During her maiden voyage at 11:40 pm on 14th April 1912 she struck an iceberg. 2 hours 40minutes later 1,517 were lost forever to the deep.

Being born in Belfast, and having close ties to the sea, the Titanic was my first passion in life, now in 2012 we are coming up to the centenary of her sinking, an important year for Belfast, the city where she was built, the city that cried when news of her sinking arrived. Over the next few months leading up to 14th April I will be adding some photos taken in the docks where she was built, launched and fitted out. Where the ship of dreams was transformed from a large steel hulk into the most luxurious liner the world had ever seen.
