Artist's Description

Its the 21st October 1805. The HMS Victory with Lord Nelson onboard is leading a fleet of Royal Navy Ships of the Line against a combined Franco and Spanish fleet and into the books of legend and history.

Today she sits in No2 dock in Portsmouth Harbour and having being laid down in 1758 and comissioned 20 years later in 1778 she is by far the worlds oldest comissioned warship.

I have been fortunate to have been on her several times over the years. If you have never seen her then you are missingout. Beautiful is hardly a word worthy of her. It has always struck me how something so beautiful, a work of art and craftsmanship, was actually used as a weapon of war.
