This scene, taken with my Canon 5D Mark II, depicts the awesome spectacle of wildlife that is Mono Lake, California USA at sunset. Mono Lake is a National Wildlife Refuge. It is a soda lake that has no natural outlets. The lake is estimated by geologists to be at least 760,000 years old. The lake has four times more salt content than the ocean. It is host to a special brine shrimp and an alkaline fly. These small creatures support the two million migratory birds that feed here every year. I stopped here overnight in route to the eastern entrance of Yosemite National Park and discovered the lake entirely by chance. I was treated to an awesome sunset and thousands of birds dining on shrimp and flies before bedtime!

Born and raised in the logging town of Snoqualmie, Washington (the logging days in Snoqualmie are mostly in the past now). I currently reside in Issaquah, Washington. My Canon Rebel 450D was a Christmas gift that has kept on giving me hours and hours of pleasure. I recently aquired a Canon 5D Mark II and I am now learning to use this awesome instument. I hope you enjoy these pictures half as much as I enjoyed capturing them!
