Are we sharing?

Are we sharing?

50mm LENS, NO ZOOM, REALLY THIS CLOSE.

I was having lunch in Grant Park + sitting on this concrete wall. All of a sudden, I felt something touching my leg + bag of sunflower seeds. When I looked down this squirrel was sitting there. After freaking out! I gave her some seeds + then started putting them between the balustrades + waited for her to look out.

If you showed up with seeds every day that squirrel would start looking for you. I have been feeding the same squirrel on my window sill for about the last four years.

  • Arlene Zapata replied

Thanx Inventor! Grant Park is not close enough to work or home to do this every day! Does your squirrel have a name?

Mama squirrel. I have at least one picture posted of her. She came to the window the other day with mud on her face. I will post that one next.

Excellently framed, love the black and white, and the depth of field on the subject (contrasted against the flat, perfectly focussed wall) really stands out – a very cool shot!

“are we sharing?” its a constant battle to keep these little furry tailed rats out my dang bird feeders. cute as they are, and they are fun to watch, they eat me out of house and home. this one is no doubt an experienced beggar! brazen to paw you for food! lovely shot with him between the columns BTW! cheers.

Hi James! I think the squirrels in Grant Park are very used to humans feeding them. It’s in the middle of downtown + thousands of people eat lunch there in the warm weather. Have you tried putting Vaseline on the bird feeder so they can’t hang on? One of my other neighbors put a dog cone around the branch above + below the feeder so the squirrels cant get past. You know, the kind a dog wears when they aren’t supposed to lick + bite a wound? Good luck + thanx for visiting! :>)
