Mono Lake, California
Near Lee Vining, California, USA
First light was spectacular that morning.
This one has that interesting aspect of becoming something more than what it is in fact, perhaps somthething etherial? Is it a city somewhere distant?? Or something else??
The ancient Tufa formations are the primary subject and why photographers are drawn to this place. But the context is the Lake that created them. So I chose to include a lot of the Lake’s water to give a clear sense of the “place”. The glorious sunrise provided the lightshow on the canvas of the water as a special bonus. It’s always interesting to see what the new day will suprise us with and how unique and brief it really is.
