Silver Creek Falls

Zane Paxton

San Carlos, United States

Artist's Description

A huge waterfall At Silver Creek Falls State Park, Oregon. Loved the warm backlit moss on the trees contrasted against the cool blue of the roaring falls. The warm/cool contrast helps give more expressive emphasis to both aspects.

One can feel the pounding of the big water hammering your body like standing next to a thundering locomotive.

Artistically speaking, really big waterfalls have a unique “veiling” or pattern that occurs in the falling water (This waterfall is over 200’ high). To optimally capture that aspect requires a careful selection of shutter speed otherwise it gets lost.

Nikon D2x, 17-35mm AFS
1/40th @ f/9 ISO 100 -.33 EV
