About Me
Profession: Industrial Designer / Photographer / Life Coach / Spiritualist
Shoots With: Nikon gear all the way, though I am in the market for some rangefinder gear.
Computer Preference: PC, just use to using them I guess. May decide to make that jump one day to Mac, who knows.
Professional Ideology: Technology dictates most industries these days, so it is with design and photography. Stay ahead or get left behind. I’m a bit of a self confessed tech geek, so I try to stay on the ball with it all, latest camera gear, new software developments and other various gadgets that may benefit my work, and ultimately what I deliver to my clients. I expect my best and think my clients deserve nothing less.
The Story So Far: Now a bit of my story… I came straight out of University I landed a job with the largest signage company in Australia as their first hot shot Industrial Designer. The glitz and glamour of the title didn’t last long. While there were many big profile industrial design jobs, it was only a matter of time before a droning beat took over, like that of a weakening heart counting down to a very unspectacular finalĂ©. My days became repetitive and working on rebranding funeral homes for months on end began to take its toll. A far cry from the picture painted for us in University. As designers we were told we had the power to shape the world, we were infact were the very effecters of change. A great vision to any individual who had great ideals about improving the world. I still strongly believe in it but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that job took the edge off of it. That and some moral/ ethic differences are why I left.
After that I took off by myself on a two month trip, back to my roots as it were. I was born in Vietnam you see and spent the first part of my life in a refugee camp in Thailand before we came over here to Australia. I spent my time backpacking both countries north to south and met some awesome people along the way. The trip helped jump start that motor inside me again, giving me back the drive I need.
When I got back to Australia, I had some time on my hands while looking for work so I went back to pursuing photography more seriously. A passion that has been with me since I was knee high to a grass hopper. Months after I got back a friend introduced me to a great contact and I have been doing some freelance design work I am actually passionate about. So I guess this, is the next step taking both things I love very much to the next level. I hope you all stick with me and support me on this journey, I promise something spectacular.
P.S. To my friends and family, thank you for your love and support. It is the very fuel for the fire that burns within me and I hope to exceed or at least live up to your expectations of who I can be.
