Immature Great Blue Heron stalking fish in small wetland space in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada. The swampy area, until recently, was the canoe pond of “Rainbow Valley”, a fun park for families. High insurance costs forced owners to close two years ago and the PEI Government bought the property, which abuts the National Park beach and sand dunes, to create a protective buffer zone. The recreational equipment was sold and the dams, which produced the canoe and paddle-boat ponds, were opened. The area reverted to wetland. The rest of the park now consists of nature trails.
