My “inner animal” – this image has become a signature piece for me. Photography has helped me appreciate the beauty in everyday things …the tendris of a wild vine climbing a power pole, the delicate texture of cracking paint on an old building – I’ve learned to see the intrinsic beauty in chaos. Through photography, I feel as though I have come out of my own creative darkness … out of the shadows.
A small white kitten emerges from the shadows into a patch of sunlight. When Nadia came home to live with us, I had joked that I just wanted a new kitty so I could put her down in the middle of the floor and take pictures of her. I was only halfway joking. I have taken Nadia’s picture dozens of times since this was taken 9-1-07.
