#10. lean . . .

You leave me hungry . .
lean
Is that how you want me?
Hungry and waiting?
Eager for morsels . . .
loving and hating?
The fat on my bone cries
and yearns aching waste
My soul and my spirit
Lick their lips for your taste.
Is this a cruel game
A test you are playing?
I don’t like to be wanting
Wanting or waiting.
I am not a good waiter. . . .
Too restless it seems
My heart starts to wander
and cry out for full dreams.
Tis a fool that gambles a treasure in hand
Tis a fool guardth not milk and honey in his land.
i would feed thee Love from the red of my lips
plump the marrow to your bone
from this embrace of my hips.
Are you testing me
Trying me
Wanting to force my good hand?
while the fullness of my love spills wasted on dry sand?
In the end you will accomplish only one thing
In the end you give up reign as MY gypsy king
My teacher you teach me
Hungry student am I
You will give me hard lessons
Never wanted I cry
You will train me
To turn from your withholding heart
trample sweet desire
of my tenderest part.
You are leaving me to curl
My wings over this wound
bleed my want out to roar
cast my gold to the moon.
you dont want me
to need thee?
nor be fed by thy hand?
. . . ?
so you waiver your rights then as my own beloved man?
sigh . . .
well somberly then . . .

I breathe three times exhale of my trust
rise my gypsy spirit once tethered now thrust
slap my skirts over good earth now broken to dust
I shake stamp thy scent
off my raw barren feet
weigh the depth of my longing
to your meager meal I could eat . . . .

Hah!
I will not . . . .
the fast has already begun.
you get the back of my head.

One cannot collect all the beautiful shells on the beach. One can collect only a few, and they are more beautiful if they are few.

    through a chink too wide
    there is no wonder
    in food a plenty
    there is no taste
    but hungry birds
    on crumbs do feed
    with not a morsel waste
    if days and hours and
    minuits are made
    slow from waiting
    for the traveler
    to return
    you will in a moment
    set a light
    and those anxious
    moments burn

  • thank you so very much T.

“try me now and see if i will not pour you out a blessing more than all your storehouses can contain”. Is not want an empty teacher? Is that not its lesson? A hard won lesson indeed.

    1. is magnificent.
  • I am familar with that wonderful scripture Ken. Yes a very hard lesson indeed, actually brutal. always seeking the point of uncovering the nugget in the pain which seems to lead to freedom. Thank you for such encouraging words.

I only just read number 9, and now I’m beginning to feel like I’m on a rollercoaster rather than a train or maybe a combination? This read’s as though it could be an answer to the song of song’s with a touch of Y-ness added, so heart-wrenchingly poignant and, in the end, devastating.

  • you just made me cry. yes Song of Songs- you are right and the pain of feeling unloved . . . is truly devastasting. Thank you for such wonderful and insightful feedback.
