Moon Call

I hardly slept at all last night
the moon wouldn’t leave me be
it woke me when it crept in and watched
through the window panes over me.

The silverly light came through the trees
as branches rocked and swayed
and pulled me from my restless state
to speak of better days.

I tried to turn and look away
from a pale swirling gleam
but every place I twisted or writhed
I couldn’t escape the beam
of light
that played
upon my face
and drew me up to see
the lunar spill cast over me
it drew the covers off of me
it bathed a wash of mystery
til my skin
soaked up the silvery sea

imbibing

magic

transparency.

What drink is this?
My skin it seemed
craved more than simply vitamin D
needs a shot of vitamin M
pulled from skies lunar beamed.

In my short chemise
silver clasped my body
and would not cease
with moon tan paint
the silverly taint
quietly
and
stealthily
pursued and would not
let go of me.

Come out
come now

it commanded me
I have cast a silver spun sheen
over grass and meadow and praying stalks
glory offered a joyful scene
harken to my calling you
Come and walk in silver tonight
I desire thy gentle self
Beloved walk now in my moonlight.

crickets kept time
cicadas hummed
wind rustled poplar leaves
as I silently moved
in hurried on clothes
over sleeping silk garments of sheaves
and slipped myself into the night scape
to be embraced by the moon’s
very own beams.

Oh why did you wake me?
you came for me
gazing
smiling upon my face
saw me curled and dozing
off the edge of my bed
then you teased me up out of my space.
I woke to find thee watching me
silently through the trees
as deep unto deep you drew me
out into summer’s nightly seas.

So now I glide in moonbeam glow
and beauty is all around me
but the pictures I took
are as dark as black
oh no one can see what you’ve shown me!

Capture my light to hold in your mind
it’s only for you and for me
and I called you out
just to breathe you in
now reflect back
my silver to me.

And so we strolled
the moon and I
in summer’s soft scents and sounds
and although I could not hold his hand
we moved on wild prairie grounds
I drank up his light upon my face
it quenched my heart’s
cry for embrace
whilst I smiled back a silver grace

I wrapped my mind around a truth
a truth I never knew

that the moon

that the moon

that the moon

that the moon

that that moon

n e e d e d

me

too.
