. . horror stuns into a frozen state of being.

the human equivalent of playing possum.
brain chemistry changes, sometimes forever.
a perfectly natural reaction to trauma.

horror is not fantasy . . .
horror is real.
This is why I do not find horror entertaining.

One cannot collect all the beautiful shells on the beach. One can collect only a few, and they are more beautiful if they are few.

    A woodcut memory carved
    a horror hiding deep
    and through its wound
    that never healed
    septic doubts now seep
    planted thoughts so negative
    rooted in my brain
    and though I’ve tried
    to weed them out
    their memory
    still remain.
It ’il take a life time
    take every moment
    for still his sin
    remains inside
in spite of all the gifts
    I am given
    this thing you call little
    I cannot hide
I tried to hide it in a bottle
    but the tears poured
    from its mouth
so i hid it in a crevice deep
    but still it crawls about
    I tried to hide it
    with dark glasses
for in my eyes it showed
but when i took them off
    at night its poisoned light
    just glowed
    so now i paint
    with the thing he hates
with a truth he cannot stand
for he cannot do his things to me
    but still I cannot understand
why still he haunts me daily
even when i try to smile
the horror has just grow in me
and its a green and bitter bile.

the expression here is so accurate
I would say this is a real art-therapy piece
I know how much these works help to get those locked negative emotions out …and once they are in the light in this safe way – they loose their dark power …. painbodies shrink when we look at them as Eckhart Tolle says … …
.. and good on Tim ! … where does he get that deep empathy from I wonder …

  • i know I wonder too – such a mystery that deep empathy Tim has.
Thank you so much Anna, you are so right and perceptive. This piece was started when I was 18 and the reaction was real. I did not look at it for many years. Yes – something so healing about bringing these hidden darknesses into the light. Thanks for letting me share.

Tims words are so fitting, for a lack of a better word

    “so now i paint
    with the thing he hates
with a truth he cannot stand
for he cannot do his things to me
    but still I cannot understand
why still he haunts me daily”

  • I’m still picking out poisoned thorns. but getting better steadily.
Thanks for your comment Will. :)
