I was thinking about how difficult it is to balance my need for solitude with my need for spiritual, intellectual, social community. When hurting and vulnerable, the tendency is to pull away and retreat. Acceptance and love are essential to all of us. And certain kinds of healing are accessible through the kindness and nuture of others. Shame and fear separate us. Love unites. We are never really alone, but the feeling is very real. I believe God created us for fellowship with Him and others,
but sometimes my differences bring up shame and leave me feeling like a freak of nature. Still working it out.
