i am a very restless person and I work in many different ways with a variety of media.

One cannot collect all the beautiful shells on the beach. One can collect only a few, and they are more beautiful if they are few.

I am percolating on ideas for my solo show.
One of my thoughts is to divide up gallery space into separate environments that accomondate different bodies of work. I literally have 8 major ones and a few minor ones. I am probably going to combine three. Land art work including at least two (22 and 18" foot) screens, smaller works, 8 piece graphite section including Tower of hands (won best of show) and a walll of 12-15 8,5 × 11 pieces set into a grid on the grid. How do I unify the show?
I am thinking of making wallpaper sized art 9 feet x whatever the wall size is, and suspend smaller works from the beams in front of wall sized work. Black and white poppping out from muted rich color. I shot this sample today.
uhhh . . . or maybe i’ll just take a nap. this sounds like an an awful lot of work!!
hey, say a prayer for me if you think of it, shoulder still needs healing. It better behave, I dont have time for nonsense. Can you believe I hurt it bad the SAME night I got the good news on doing a solo show?

Sounds exciting, and a lot of work. The layering sounds like a good idea, especially with such large works as a backdrop. Hope your shoulder is mending….

  • yeahhh . . . :)) just working out the layout from blueprint specs. Shoulder 70% better. Thanks Phil for your support.

The pieces look beautiful – this is really when I would love to see them up close and personal, how would the large piece look suspended? Maybe it could work as unifying but indicating the different works – hope your shoulder gets better – the work is wonderful

  • Thank you so much Karen. The work is . . . very different close up. So much going on in a tight close up. Wish you could come to the exhibit. The large pieces will have to be tacked to wall, they are too fragile to suspend. cool project though, apprecite your thoughts!! x

Your fabulous ideas for your solo sound so brilliant , I would Love to come view them for a close up , posting on RB sometimes do not deliver the impact to one’s work , but exciting large format and your diversity is going to be a exciting & cool show …….. Good luck sent , your talent is simply wondrous Yvonca xx

  • Oh Thanks so much for the great encouragement Paul. Boy I wish you could come too. I may film the exhibit to at least capture a bit of it. I know that being in the environment is a completely different experience than viewing small images . . . . but hey. we are LUCKY to travel the world via these wondrous transmissions. :)) xx

It will turn out wonderful Yvonca! You have so much to work with. I am sure it will take on a life of it’s own as you begin to work within the location space. The work may even wish to be displayed like nothing you’d expect until you are actually there. Good things happen…you’ll love it!

  • I totally know what you are saying. It will not come together until it comes together. How’s THAT for profound? ha haa. Thanks for the great cheer Rich!
