Sunrise in Oia

This was taken from the balcony of my “cave house” in Oia, on the Island of Santorini in Greece. This is a place where time literally stands still in a good way. The island is also known as Fira. This town and island are so enchanted that the sunset is an event. People come in by the busloads and one has to get one’s spot at one of the restaurants on the western promontory well ahead of time.

The photograph was taken in September, 1997 at 7:10 a.m. Taken with a Nikon F3, 50mm nikkor lens, f/5.6 @1/8 sec on a tripod with kodak elite ektachrome, iso 100.
