Mitre Peak is an iconic mountain in the South Island of New Zealand in Fjordlands National Park. The distinctive shape of the peak gives the mountain its name, after the mitre headwear of Christian bishops. Part of the reason for its iconic status is its location as it is close to the shore of Milford Sound. Rising to 1,692 metres from the water of the fjord, it is actually a closely grouped set of five peaks, although from most easily accessible viewpoints it appears as a single point. 1/45 f11 ISO100 Fuji S5Pro Nikon 17-55 @ 19mm 162 views

Played with photography since early High School. Since moving to the Yukon in 1997 I have become much more involved and am now comfortable in Photoshop although there is always more to learn. the Yukon is a great canvas and would recommend it for most everyone’s Bucket List

If I could Dick I’d give this a double favourite ! It is different to the pictures normally shown on calendars – It is a Kiwi icon and your photo proves that. Beautiful ! I can see a few features for this one. Pop it on to North Island New Zealand and Made in New Zealand groups plus Country Bumpkin and any other group to do with scenery – it’s a winner.
Thanks for the vote of confidence
