Sheep Mountain is within the Kluane National Park, established in 1972, in the far West of Canada’s Yukon [bordering on Wrangell – St Elias National Park & Preserve in Alaska] and therefore is protected from hunting. Sheep can often be seen on the mountain but i was fortunate to get relatively close to this fellow. there are two types of thinhorn sheep in the area. Dall sheep (Ovis dalli dalli) are predominately white while Stone sheep are grey. this is a fairly young sheep as can be seen by the curl of his horns which will reach a full curl by 7-8 years
