Evening dress is only obligatory for adults, so a kid at a white-tie-and-tails party can wear anything – even brown fluff. And this baby King Penguin at Edinburgh Zoo can carry it off. (S/he is only 4 months old, hatched October 2009.)
King Penguins are hard to breed in captivity, and this Princ/ess Penguin is the first one to be hatched at Edinburgh Zoo since 2004. They are native to Antarctica, but deal with the warmer northern weather in Edinburgh quite well since 1914: the first King Penguin chick hatched in captivity was born in Edinburgh in 1915.
