18″×24″ acrylic painting on canvas sheet.

This was one of a series of nautical paintings I did as a commission work.

I am always drawn to the gracefulness of the sailboat and admire people who can sail them. It must make one feel a great sense of freedom and abandon.

Yay!!!! Kate is BACK! Awesome work, very stunning. Superb composition and a great feel of the wind and movement!

  • Hi Seth! Slowly but surely I hope to get back into the swing of things. Got a lot of catching up to do. We have moved a little north of Atlanta….to the mountains! Do you still live in the NC mountains? Thanks for the really beautiful comment.

The fine contrasts really makes this one come right off the screen Kate. Excellent work. Really shows off your wonderful talent.

  • Thank you Jim……..I always love your comments. I may have said this before, but you point out things like a favorite art teacher I had in school. A critique coming from you is very much appreciated.

Kate…Hi, I just love this painting, well executed, can smell the salt of the ocean!!!!
    Well done,

  • Thank you Grannywoo. Now that is a great compliment when your painting can conjure up the actual smell of what it depicts. Comment much appreciated.

Great to see you back, Linda!!!
And of course, your fine paintings are always a treat to view.
    Straight into my faves!

The figures are superbly realistic. And the interplay between the varying angles of the sails, pleases the eye impressively here.
I also love the sea and the little waves – something I love to paint. in fact, I’m working on finger painting right now – in oils! Which I love, and recently have started to teach myself.

    Welcome back!!

  • Hello Colin! It’s great to be back. So sweet of you to fav this……..I painted it some time ago. I know you love the sea, and you do such a perfect job of painting in the nautical theme. Finger painting in oils…..you don’t say! I am trying hard to to catch up with everyone’s work since I have been gone…..so I must go see your new pieces. Thank you for all of your lovely comments my good friend.

  • Hi there Sue……aren’t ya sweet! Thank you for commenting so nicely on this. I went through a boat and sea phase, when that was all I did……..but I do very much love painting anything coastal or nautical.
