Acrylic on canvas
18″ × 24″
Second upload for truer clarity
I have a great love for the sailing vessel. I am fairly detailed in most of my work, so the rigging on ships…..especially those of old…….is quite fascinating and a challenge to paint.
Scanned for color more true to the original
and for correct pixel size.

That’s an acrylic?!? Wow, so detailed. Beautifully done!
uh-huh…..I find that acrylic is a very controllable medium…..and easy to redo if necessary. Thank you much much Hillie my friend.

I like your brushstrokes on the background – nice and free xxx

An excellent sharpened and revitalized scan of the excellent original, Linda.
A beautifully detailed work, and the limited skyscape colour, really enhances this fine piece.
Hello Colin! I always love your thoughtful critiques, and appreciate them very much. The first upload was a digital capture with my old outdated camera ( which needs to be in a museum ). This upload is an almost perfect match. Scanning almost always gets it right, but I can’t do that with my larger pieces. Will have to get a new 8 or more megapixel camera. Always look forward to your comments Colin.

A lovely romantic study Kate. I used to build models like these in my youth so they particularly apeal.
Thank you Brian for such a special comment. Do you still build ship models? or do you still have any you have done? I always wanted to try that.

The details and the reflections are just wonderful. The sky is just the perfect contrast to all the intricate ships!
Hi Seth my friend! You are so kind to say that. I am a render person normally…I render just what I see. But on this one I took artistic license with an old image I liked.

Oh, Linda, you are too too kind dear girl. You say the kindest things. You know me, I use those teeny tiny brushes, which all of my teachers told me to throw away…….but how are ya ’posed to get all that teeny tiny detail??
