… did you know there’s a “fence” group here??? I bet they’d love this beauty!! Don’t Fence Me In
No, I did not. Thanks for the info Lois.
Very good techniques!
Thank you very much Dobromira.
Thank you very much mompaq for your nice comment.
This is simply gorgeous, it reminds Me of the old lane leading up to My cottage in Standish, Gloucestershire. UK………………Beautiful!
Thank you Phillip for your nice comment. This is a pastoral scene near the mountains of North Carolina… a very beautiful area. Lucky you, to live in England, where you have so much beautiful countryside.
Ah well I now live in Sydney and there are plenty of stunning places here too!
I go out there deep into the heart of the truly splendid English country side to go and take really long walks; where my only aim is to see if I can get totally lost; and, so, become wholly ‘one’ with nature. Many times, I come across seeing this very same kind of scene…long narrow steadily winding country paths being hemmed in with side fences; but, frankly, I would never ever even dare to try and draw/paint the rich scenes before me; why because it looks so complex(paths/fences/grass/flowers/trees/sky/-etc.); yet, you seem to be able to pull it all off; and, with absolutely no problem. Totally beats me???!!! I look at this kind of work…and, think to myself, if only I could do that ‘one day’?! Which is to say, you have the kind of unreal talent that other people can only DREAM about having! TOTALLY BRILLIANT! ;-)
Thank you for your very nice compliment firstly. Secondly, I think it does seem a little more complex when you are painting on site. I don’t have the opportunity to do that very often, so I take a photo and take it home and paint from that. i am just rendering exactly what I see. I do an overall simple sketch first, then start in on the detail.
Interesting, Thanks very much for the clear explanation. An exercise for me to go try… ;-)
This is really lovely yimusjane. I am so pleased to find that you have joined the new pastel group too.
Thank you Lynda……this is a really old piece and I have never really done a lot of pastel work. I don’t know why, because it really is fun to work with and much easier to control than some media. Here I am telling the master of pastels about pastels….. but I thoght I would enter it in the challenge…….OK, stop laughing Lynda!
As if I would laugh!!! You are a BRILLIANT artist. You should definitely do more pastel work.
